10 hiking and camping grounds should be your New Year's resolution!

Each new year, we hear people say a million different resolutions that will change their lives. Some come resolutions classic clichés in shape, save more money, travel more, or even find love. I think if you agree to get off the couch and outdoors, you can answer all your resolutions and more! Think of the pure mountain air, panoramic views, and mountain man skills / woman that you can learn by spending several nights under the stars! Here are 10 reasons hiking and camping should be your New Year's resolution.



1. No need for a gym membership


With everyone wasting their hard earned money on a gym membership, they will stop using it within two months, the change will last. While wearing a pack of 20 lb on a walking uphill, you just need to burn as many calories as you would in the gym, if you put in the effort. In addition, avoiding joining the fitness of nature, you get all take selfie mirror meat heads Kardashian wannabes. And the best part is that your membership is free, and much more interesting.

2. Get better sleep


Sleep under the stars with the sounds of nature to relax and reset your soul. Leave behind the stress of your 9-5 job and you hard, cramped apartment in the city for a night in the wild. I guarantee sleep after a night under the stars, you wake up refreshed, with a renewed sense of life. Some of my best sleep, having been all night on the floor in a sleeping bag.

3. Eat healthy


It's hard to eat fast food if you are on a three-day trek. If you resist the urge, you will not even want more. With a little ingenuity, you can catch fresh fish, gather greens and nuts, all while towing. It is impossible, but it's hard unhealthy to eat on a camping trip, unless you have a lot of whiskey and s'mores like answer.

4. New Challenges


Every year I hear people talk about all the elements of the bucket list, they want to check their lists. This is the year to make a list of challenges and overcome them. You can walk a peak of 12,000 feet, a famous hiking trail, or just sleep for a night in a tent under the stars. Whatever your skill level, make sure you challenge yourself to conquer new adventures this year. Make reasonable walking goals you know you can accomplish this year, pushing yourself a little further each new adventure!

5. Save Money


Buy camping and hiking equipment can be expensive at first, but once you get everything you need, you can load a boat to save money. It is impossible to spend money when you enjoy the track, a multi-day excursion. Find stuff used on flea markets or borrow things from friends to keep your small investment. You can also try carpooling with friends on your next adventure to save money on gas. An evening drinking beer around a campfire, is about $ 100 less than a Saturday night in the bar.

6. Spend more time with family and friends


Once a year at Christmas, I see most of my family and friends. Every year I hear how my family and friends want to sit or go visit often. I say, go for it! Planning a trip and get on track! You can even show the new skills you have learned. You can not bring the kids around the table for family dinner or get them to turn their phones off for two seconds? The solution is to get around a campfire without cell service! They can hate at first, but they'll love after roasting marshmallows and hot chocolate.

7. Travel More


Every year, people talk about traveling to magnificent places like California, New York, Europe, etc. How about using all hiking and camping in your own yard first. Get off the couch and get outside more! Perhaps the year to go to Europe, but if not, a visit famous rides like the John Muir Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalachian Trail.

8. Detox! Stop smoking and drinking (or maybe drink a little less)


If you like smoking or drinking, and it does not bother your daily life, then by all means do what makes you happy. But if you're ready to leave, then this year's march and the camp will end this bad habit. If you smoke in the car, and you walk up to a few miles to the camp, you just have to do without them. Camping and hiking can be so relaxing that it can remove the need for nicotine or alcohol. Breath fresh mountain air and drink clean water from the mountain.

9. Learn a new skill


Whether you are an expert climber or new to camping together, you can never stop learning. Find a skill that you find difficult or skill that you paid in, and find a way to get better. If you are beginner, then the world is your oyster! Choose a hiking or camping adventure and go there. It's amazing how you feel summiting your first mountain, making your first fire, or just camping for the first time.

10. Find love!


This is a significant find other year! Hiking trails and campfires are perfect places to meet new people with similar interests. People who like to get outdoors are mostly positive, optimistic, and fit. And if you can not find your true love, at least you'll fall in love with the great outdoors! Win.Win.
