Travelling in Spain

Traveling through Spain at the port of Balboa, I was surprised to see the landscape changing. The land changed every few miles. With many places to invite you for a drink along the road; These are probably welcome in the heat of summer, but it is now spring and the roads are pretty deserted. I wonder how a life in winter.

We left the flat landscape of San Pedro del Pinatar where the coastal sand on the Mar Menor and the shallow waters of the hinterland of the sea. Here, mountains emerge almost vertically from the broad flat plain where the fruit trees grow in the dusty, stony ground. Golf urbanisations built for visitors along the coastal areas.

Soon for us to be a chain of steep mountains and isolated farms. Spain has half the population of the UK, but is twice as large. Then, for many miles of road winds through a mixture of small dusty towns and varied landscapes.

Once Albacete remains Rhoda is the next big urbanization. Madrid was readily adopted using the GPS navigator. and the landscape flattens again with forest patches along the way.

Ultimately for us on the horizon were a series of snow-covered mountains. Here, we pulled off the road in a beautiful village of Cabrera. They must have a lot of visitors in the summer, from Madrid, since the whole village seemed to be catering for visitors, restaurants, cafes and hotels. We stayed at the charming Hotel Mavi.

The next morning, we were surprised to find the temperature was only 7 degrees, and the day before that it was 26 degrees, but we were in the mountains north of Madrid, sometimes leading through the clouds as the misty smoke surrounded us ..

We spent a succession of mountainous areas that were-were very picturesque, some covered with dense forests, but as we approached the coast of the land became greener with more trees and more like England, with rapeseed fields.

Then pull Balboa ferry we enjoyed the last few hours on Spanish soil. That was the end of winter in the sun until the fall, when we got home in Spain.
